Route: Burniston to Marine Drive (Scarborough)

Directions:

  • A 6-minute drive to the start. Head down the drive and onto South End. Turn right on the Coastal Road towards Scarborough. Turn left at the Ivanhoe onto Scalby Mills Road. Park for free on the right or use the Sea Life car park.

  • Walk along the promenade, enjoying the sea views. You can continue on to South Bay or walk up to Scarborough Castle.

  • Marine Drive: This popular promenade offers incredible coastal views and is one of Scarborough’s key attractions. It was originally built in the 19th century and continues to be a favoured spot for locals and tourists alike.

  • Scarborough Castle: Overlooking the bay, this historic castle offers panoramic views of the surrounding coastline. While this route doesn’t go through the castle itself, you’ll get excellent views from the Marine Drive.

  • South Bay: A lovely sandy beach, great for a quick stop to watch the waves or grab an ice cream from one of the kiosks.

  • Cliff-top Views: Along the Marine Drive, you'll enjoy stunning vistas of the coastline, the harbour, and the North Sea. Keep your eyes peeled for dolphins!
